We're back ... trip notes

Since we got up at 4 am this morning, there are a lot of hours before 9 am church and plenty of time to start the trip blogging mania. In case you haven't noticed, this is sort of a family journal, so when I go back to scrapbook about things, this is how I remember the details. So, whether anyone else is interested or not, the crazy posting will ensue.

First, traveling with a 13 month old is HARD - harder than I expected. Andrew wants to do one thing and one thing only - explore - and that is hard to do on a trip where everything is off limits and you spend a lot of time in public transportation. But we survived, and had some fun, too.

Speaking of transportation, on a walk home to our apartment in Ediburgh, we concluded that we had ...

3 airplane flights (total 18 hours)
2 tube (subway rides) (total 1 hour)
8 train rides (total about 9.5 hours)
around 10 bus rides (total about 5 hours)
and around 10 cab rides (a few hours).

Overall, there was A LOT of screaming on this trip (most of it by Andrew, ha ha ha), mostly by the baby who does not want to be held, be quiet, or be in his stroller. Naturally. I'm sure we got a lot of dirty looks, but we also got a lot of sympathy (especially in Scotland). We saw very few other children traveling, so Andrew definitely stood out. But we had fun. But there better not be any international weddings we have to attend anytime soon!
