Logan is busy, curious, and into everything! He crawls really fast – especially when the door to a forbidden place (bathroom, boys room when it’s full of the boys’ toys, cat food on the floor in the kitchen) opens up. I love how when he is crawling on a material he doesn’t like (basically anything but carpet), he crawls like a bear, on his hands and feet. It’s so cute. Don’t want to hurt those knees, now. He cruises everywhere, just holding on with one hand, often. I think he is close to walking, but we’ll see. The last few days he has tried standing on his own for a second or two and also will try to take a step now and then when going across furniture. He also likes me holding his hands and walking him around (or even me just holding one hand). I bet he’ll be walking by next month.
Logan looks so much thinner to me this month. But people will still always comment about how huge he is. Which is true, but he just looks a lot skinnier than he used to be because he is on the move so often.
Logan is eating solids probably about the same as last month – he loves string cheese and gets super excited when he sees it. He also loves gnawing on fruit. He also LOVES drinking out of his straw sippy cup. He gets upset when we are eating or drinking something and don’t share.
He likes to sit in his high chair while I’m cooking because he knows I will give him tastes of everything. He is a fan of doughs and batters of all kinds. He is very curious about cooking and loves to look at all the pots and play with the buttons on the bread maker.
He seems to be nursing less, maybe every four hours. After my birthday (Katsu got me an awesome hotel stay for a night away from the boys – my first one ever), we decided to night-wean Logan and it is going really well. We should have done it sooner but with trips and illnesses, there just wasn’t a good time. Katsu sleeps in the room with him and wakes up as necessary, but he pretty much only wakes up once at night then I come and nurse him sometime between 5 and 6:30 when he wakes up – sometimes, he even goes back to sleep, so he is not waking up as early as he was either – which is awesome. The first half of the month he was waking up at 5 am every day and one of us would take him out on walks – like even before the sun rose – so the other kids wouldn’t wake up. Our apartment is just too small to prevent that. But boy – that is an early morning! I am glad it seems to have been temporary.
Logan loves music. I just LOVE watching babies dance – it is so sweet. He pumps up and down with his legs with music and gets a huge smile on his face. He even was trying to get into the hymns at church today. He loves the CDs we have been checking out at the library lately (and also loves to try to play with the CD player – he already knows the buttons!), and especially this Good morning song. He gets the biggest smile when I start singing it to him.
Logan is so happy and cuddly. He loves to cuddle and kiss when he is feeling loving – to me, to Katsu, to the Andrew, to Seth, to Joe, even to babies he meets at church or the park. It is so cute. Sometimes it even looks like wrestling.
Logan has started to make more sounds. When he cries for me, it sounds like he is saying “Mom”. I wouldn’t quite call it a word, but it’s getting close. He is pretty expressive and a have a good idea of what he wants most of the time.
Fun Things This Month
- Visit with the Lyles
- Zoo – Logan got to experience the train, which he liked, but otherwise enjoyed the double stroller with his cell-mate Jack.
- Magic House – Logan loves the baby section and since he was so much more mobile than last time, had fun exploring the area. He can do stairs like a champ, but still hasn’t quite figured out slides.
- Chocolate Store
- Botanical Gardens
- Mom’s groups at lots of parks and lots of splash parks.
- Eating out a few times for my birthday.
- Playing at the hotel pool for my birthday. He LOVED it.
