April 2018

I have pretty negligent about the blog, but I am going to work on it more ...

APRIL 2018

  • Started the month with Easter (boys had lots of fun finding candy, some fits were had about the candy itself - the joys of kids).  We also watched lots of General Conference - missed some on Saturday due to boys skiing.  It was quite a weekend.
  • Andrew has continued with code club.  Seth supposedly "finished" it but seemed to whirlwind through all the challenges.  Andrew keeps going each Thursday afternoon and has been working really hard on his projects.
  • Andrew and Seth finished ski school.  They went through the first two levels and were pretty excited to even get to do a Black ski run.  Katsu ended up getting a spring season pass and went up with the boys to go skiing each weekend.
  • Noah had soccer - he didn't seem to enjoy it very much.  We signed him up because he really wanted to get a trophy and snacks.  They didn't have snacks and he didn't get his trophy till the end (and it got snapped with in a week after being stepped on).  He would tolerate the drills, but once it was time to have a scrimmage, he wanted nothing to do with it.  We'll have to try again in a year or two.
  • The family went to see the Jordan River Temple Open House.  We went on a Wednesday night, which was probably not the best evening, as it was packed.  The boys were crazy and roughhousing, but behaved pretty well inside so I think that was good.
  • I won another set of free tickets and went with a friend to a piano quartet.  It was great until she went to use the bathroom and they closed the doors before she got back in!  She missed the second half.  It was quite an adventure.
  • Seth started up soccer as well - he was on a game more in the west of the city and was the only one who didn't speak Spanish.  The coach just yelled at them in Spanish the whole time and then would say "Go Seth".  Seth was still the best on the team and it wasn't exciting enough for him but we are trying something else in the fall and see if it is better.
  • Logan went to a really fun party at Discovery Gateway.  I took the rest of the boys to go see the Church History museum - they were not very interested and were getting into trouble, even in the children's area.  We will have to try it again sometime.
  • Katsu and I went to see "Our Country's Good", a play about the colonizing of Australia.  It was okay - we were right on the stage, which was fun, but it wasn't my favorite play of the season.
  • Katsu and I both gave talks at church on the 15th.
  • We went to a free afternoon at the Discovery Gateway with all the kids after school one day.
  • Noah and I went to our first free program called Nature in the City sponsored by the Tracy Aviary.  It was at Miller Park - the park that ran behind our rental.  It was fun until we had to leave half way through so he could go to the bathroom.  But it just started our fun with their programs.
  • Seth and I went to see the Parent Trap play at the Children's Theater.  It was really fun and well-done.
  • We had piers installed to help stabilize our porch.  Hopefully they do a good job.  They were really fast and got them in without having to move any of the bushes, so that was great.
  • I went to a letter writing to lawmakers night at a friend's and had book club at my house this month.
  • I finished teaching and Noah finished going to the Nanny's.  He really loved her and she really loved him so it was sad to see him move on.  He will start preschool in the fall.
  • We took Andrew's friend Brian with us to the Curiosity museum and had fun.
  • Sarah and Danny moved to Salt Lake City but there stuff wasn't here so they stayed in our basement for awhile.
  • We went to Jacob's wedding reception and then straight to the pinewood derby.  It was a beautiful reception, great food, the boys mostly behaved.  The boys had cotton candy and all kinds of snacks at the pinewood derby.  Seth and Andrew's cars did fine, but didn't win.  Andrew didn't make a car and just used one from last year.
  • We also spent time exploring the neighborhood, eating gelato, and walking in City Creek Canyon this month.
