For all you Michiganders, this is a great one. If you open a 529 for your resident child (under the age of 5, I think) and put in $$, they will give your child some free $$ for college. Basically, if you put in $$ (up to $600), they will put in 1/3 of what you put in. So, last year, we put in $600 initially and they gave us a free $200. Plus, Michigan's plan is one of the better ones anyways and you get some state tax benefits, too. Definitely recommend this.
