We had fun being in Dallas for Christmas. It was especially nice to get to know Sarah’s new husband Danny better. And the weather was really nice. It was delightful to go to the park or on a walk. I think one exceptionally warm day it almost got up to 80! Unfortunately, we were all sick off and on. First, Katsu. Then, Andrew woke up our first morning there and was throwing up! Then, Seth got croupy-cough and a high fever right around Christmas. Then, I got it. Then, we were all recouperating just in time for Seth to get stomach flu almost as soon as we walked in the door of our home in St Louis.
We still did some fun things in Dallas, but not as much as we hoped. We went to the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa one day. The zoo was really nice – they put in this new African exhibit and you were really close to everything. You can even feed the giraffes. Seth’s favorite part was the statues of the animals – he wanted to kiss every one. We tried to race by the monkeys on the way out, but Seth noticed and threw a huge fit. They also loved the Children’s zoo – it was fun, but the kids were a little scared of the over-eager goats.
Everyone but me went to Chuck E Cheese one day. I must have been sick that day. Andrew and Grandpa went and fed the ducks half the days. We went to the library. We went to the park. We went on walks several days. The boys helped clear the sticky balls off the lawn a day or two. We went shopping and out to eat, because what else is there to do in Dallas? We wanted to take the train from Grapevine to the stockyards, but that didn’t happen, so maybe next time. And of course, we celebrated Christmas.
