Our trip started on the 12th, though we didn't arrive until the 13th. The flight went pretty well and Andrew slept a lot of the overnight flight. Thank heavens. We sit in the very last row of seats so that we can take him back into the galley when he starts screaming. It works pretty well.
We arrived to London Gatwick on Friday the 13th. A very bad sign. Indeed. After a train ride and a cab ride, we arrived at our hotel, unpacked, and then had to go straight to a luncheon with all of the Funais and with Kiyo's bride Hiroko and her family. Andrew screamed and screamed so I spent most of the dinner walking with Andrew up and down the streets of London and returning to eat some Chinese food.
Upon exiting the restaurant, we realized that the wheel on the stroller was broken. We needed a new stroller immediately. Having no idea where to get one, we asked someone on the street and went to Mothercare. Of course, all the strollers cost at least 50% more than the US (cheap umbrella strollers were 35 pounds - about $70!!!) and the Funais were nice enough to buy us a new MacClaren stroller.
We went shopping where Andrew's shoe broke and then we lost it because it fell off his foot. Definitely Friday the 13th.
Then, we walked home (a very LONG walk through Hyde Park and the Kensington Palace grounds) and bought some groceries for a little dinner in our hotel room. Then, we dined on some KFC and had nice conversation with Katsu's parents before going to bed.
