Wedding day!!! Unfortunately, between Katsu being a best man and my hands being full of Andrew, I didn't get any pictures, but we'll collect them later from family. Suffice it to say that Hiroko was a beautiful bride, Kiyo was a handsome groom, and it was a lovely wedding.
They were married first in the Hyde Park Chapel (right across the street from the science museum). Andrew started screaming within 1 minute from the wedding beginning and we spent the whole time in the nursing room where Andrew discovered some step stools he thought were fun to climb on. I spent the whole time trying to prevent him from playing in the toilet. But I heard the wedding was nice ...
They had rented a car/driver to take us to the temple, so the whole family (both Kiyo and Hiroko's) drove to the temple. Thankfully, Katsu's cousin Kosuke watched Andrew so we could both go to the sealing. It was very memorable. The electricity was out at the London temple, so we had to use lanterns and flashlights. It was almost like candlelight. Because of this, the only people at the temple were the sealer, a worker at the desk, and those there for the sealing. So, it was very very very quiet and a very small group. The sealing was really beautiful. Katsu and I, Tomo, Katsu's mother and father, two family friends, and Kiyo and Hiroko were the only ones there. It was a special experience.
Afterwards, we took the car back to a hotel right at Marble Arch for the reception. The food was excellent. Andrew was very wiggly and loud, so we took him out and let him climb up the stairs at the hotel between courses. He unfortunately learned to walk up stairs without crawling by pulling himself up using the handrail. Yikes. We also wandered up and down the streets and went to souvenir shops. After the cake cutting, we took a cab home, completely exhausted. It was a great day!!!
Pictures starting with the next post ....
